Chiropractic Testimonials
The only thing as satisfying as helping our patients is opening an email or letter from one of them telling us exactly what a difference we have made in their lives.
Here are some samples of our patients’ correspondence.
We Intend to Continue Indefinitely
"My husband, Bob Lastick, and I have been treated for several years by Dr. Matt McCoy at Lifestyle Family Chiropractic in Sycamore, Illinois.
To begin with, we are always treated in a friendly, professional manner by his office staff. They are welcoming, helpful, and patient with our questions and scheduling needs.
Dr. McCoy has helped us both to move and live with less or no pain, and to feel better in general. He provides excellent counsel on many health issues.
Matt also adjusted our greyhound, Mikey, when he sprained his neck. The improvement was immediate; clearly, Mikey was in less pain and moved comfortably. He was “good to go” within a week.
Although we began visiting Dr. McCoy for specific musculoskeletal issues, we intend to continue indefinitely for adjustments.
Both of us have recommended Lifestyle Family Chiropractic to friends, family and co-workers and will continue to do so."

I Could Barely Walk
"About a year and a half ago, I was playing with my kids, and through that, I could piggy-back the two of them at the same time…I was sadly mistaken when a shooting pain went through my back. It kind of felt like rubber bands snapping or something to that effect. It just felt really sore for the rest of the day, but I thought that a good night’s sleep would certainly take care of it. Again, I was sadly mistaken; more like sorely mistaken…very sore. I could barely walk, let alone put on socks, pants, or anything that required me to bend my back. I went on for a couple of days like this, and I was able to manage through my day by finding alternate ways to try to do things without bending my midsection. I would sit down and put my feet on my knee to put socks on. I would go barefoot in the house so that I could pick up things with my toes, but what I could do was very limited, especially sleeping. I had to drive to work that following Monday, as it was very tough, as every couple of minutes I would have to change positions to try to shift the weight off of my back. However, that wasn’t the worst of it. About a half-hour into my ride, my left leg went numb all the way to the bottom of my foot. The feeling gradually came back but was still very tingly and sore for the rest of the day, kind of like a leg cramp that wouldn’t go away.
I spoke with my mom and a couple of other people that I knew who had back problems in the past and they suggested that I go the doctor and prepare for surgery. I was told that when pain and numbness reach the foot, that back surgery was inevitable. After about four or five days of no sleep and limping around, my wife suggested that I go to see Dr. Matt. She was being treated for sinus headaches and swore that it really helped her. She was down and out for about a week one time for a sinus infection and hasn’t had one since her treatment began. I had never been to a chiropractor before, and was a little skeptical, of course. However, at this point, I was willing to try anything that didn’t involve a scalpel and thousands of dollars. I went to McCoy Chiropractic, and within three days of treatment, I was almost back to normal…SLEEPING COMFORTABLY AGAIN and able to do things that I had taken for granted with a healthy back. Dr. Matt had me doing some basic stretching exercises and taking the zinc pills, which really seemed to help dramatically with the healing process. Within two or three weeks of treatment, it was nothing but a memory and has been ever since. I slowly weaned myself to a weekly treatment, bi-monthly, and now a monthly treatment that keeps me healthy. In all probability, I will be a lifetime member of chiropractic therapy."

Old Age is Just a State of Mind
"You grow up hearing the elderly complain of aches and pains on a daily basis. You hear how it is “Hell to get old,” so naturally you start to believe that all the aches and pains you are experiencing are just a part of the aging process. My girlfriends and I would tease each other about making “old lady noises getting in and out of the car.”
As the age of 50 was growing near, my knees would hurt. I would have to stand up and make sure my hips were in place under me before taking off, and my back was constantly causing me problems. I was living on Advil, two in the morning and two before I went to bed. Then it really hit me. I was entertaining the first of December and had been working hard all day and then, when my guests arrived, I could hardly move. They all kept saying I needed to do something, but what? I made the call.
Monday morning, I called the McCoy Chiropractic Clinic and they were able to schedule me right away. Katie took the x-rays, and then I saw Dr. Matt. He was very thorough in explaining everything he saw on the x-rays and did various movement and range tests. I was amazed at how he could tell me where the pains were. I was really scared of the pain I might have when he made the adjustment. After the first adjustment, I felt relief. I know it is hard to believe, but it was true. And basically painless.
I am no longer relying on Advil on a daily basis and feel much better. When I do start to have pain in an area, Dr. Matt can make the adjustment and I am on my way. I think I am even walking straight, tall, and quicker. Old age is just a state of mind."

I Can Feel My Feet!
"I just returned home from walking briskly around the block. you are probably thinking, “Well, that sounds nice.” Well, it is something that I have not been able to do for at least three or four years. I stopped doing my 20 minutes a day power walk due to pain in the hip, and numbness in my legs and feet. I was unable to walk a straight line.
I had been to various doctors and received no explanation as to the pain. Physical Therapy was suggested, and then I ended up on crutches due to major inflammation in my hip. An anti-inflammatory was prescribed to no avail.
In January of 2004, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I staggered like a drunk. I had lost sensation in my feet, and I was in pain. My neck, shoulders, hips, and feet hurt. It was very difficult to maintain daily activities due to my discomfort.
Realizing my present course of treatment was not helping with the pain or loss of feeling in my feet, I decided it was finally time to find another course of action. With encouragement from my best friend, who is also a patient of yours, I made an appointment with your office.
After a consultation with you and an adjustment, I left your office feeling like there would be a day that I would not have this pain. With time and patience, I knew there was hope. I have a daily challenge with Multiple Sclerosis. Short-term memory, coping with pain, numbness, and coordination.
Over the Labor Day weekend, I had what I call an M.S. moment. I had been sitting at my computer and went to stand up. My feet did not tell my brain they had fallen asleep. The end result was two severely sprained ankles. A suggested treatment plan by my physician was to go home, ice down the ankles, and rest. No work, no daily activity, let family wait on you. Things would be better in a few days.
I had to cancel my next appointment with you because I was unable to get around. The following day, I came into your office and you asked if you could take a look at my ankles and feet. I was skeptical, but after encouragement from you, you did an adjustment. Immediately my ankles and feet were feeling better. The stiffness and thick feeling that I was experiencing seemed to be less severe. We have continued my adjustments and the feeling gets better every day.
You have also discussed nutrition and the importance of keeping my body chemistry in check. I have taken steps to improve on this as well. You have been a wealth of information to me and helped me in many ways in learning how to deal with my Multiple Sclerosis.
I have commented that your adjustments are like an addiction. When one feels better as I have with the treatment program you have for me, I know I made a good choice to be treated by you. I want to yell to the world, “I can feel my feet!”
Thank you, Doctor Matt, for everything you have done for me. I may have Multiple Sclerosis, but you have put a smile back on my face, joy in my heart, and hope for the future."

The Power of the Dream
"I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for all you have done and continue to do for Matthew. I was driving to work the other day listening to a song called “The Power of the Dream.” You have truly helped Matt in reaching one step closer to that dream. I don’t think you realize how much he and I appreciate all of your efforts. You believe in what he is doing and share in his dreams. I am not sure if your staff realizes that you get up to work out with him at 5:30 in the morning (I apologize to the staff if he is sleepy at times). Just wanted to tell you how much we appreciate all your hard work and how Matt is truly blessed to have found a doctor and friends like you have all been to him since the day he started coming to your office. Thanks a million."

Thanks for Helping to Take My Pain Away
"Thanks to Dr. Matt for many things: for being patient and answering all my questions, for being genuinely concerned about how I’m feeling each day, for making me comfortable with an unfamiliar process, for giving me much needed pep talks when I’m feeling discouraged, and for celebrating with me when I’m feeling better. Most of all, thanks for helping to take my pain away, or at least to lessen it considerably. I have confidence that, eventually, I’ll be as good as new.”
